Changes to the past…

Lots going on in the world these days...
As our friends are moving all around the world but still remain only a day away, as families are started and lives shift a little, as the economic situation in the world takes dips for the worse for the majority of its inhabitants and meteoric rises for the minority, as our ideas of fuel and resources are being forced to change - whether we recognize that or not - and as the planet itself seems to be sending us some sort of message that enough might just be enough...it might be time to take the blinders off our way of living.
In a recently viewed movie, (that's since been watched about a bazillion times) there's a scene where two men contemplate how we're pushing the limits of what the planet can hold to an extreme, and eventually we will come to a cliff. For one reason or another, we seem to be deadset on finding a way of moving "forward" off of the cliff and managing to survive. Find new ways, find new resources, invent new fuels, genetically modify our food resources, establish medicines to help us live longer while maintaining our existing unhealthy lifestyles. What if, instead of moving "forward" off of this cliff and trying to find new ways, what if you did a 180-degree-turn and then took a step "forward" - but into the past. Is this still progress? We can't keep going trying to make a flawed system work.
The world seems to have been an easier place - and not that long ago - to live in. But there are people who are beginning to design and build in ways that resemble turning around, looking at how it used to be a long time ago, and then taking that step forward. Ben Falk is one of them, and he's one of the coolest, smartest guys I've ever talked to in my life. Here's his permaculture design/build company...Whole Systems Design LLC out of Vermont.
